Whose Cozier? A Valentine’s Message 11

Who will move first?

Who’s cozier?  Who’s hungrier?  Who’s lazier?  Who’s needs to go to the bathroom?  And so it begins.  The wait.  Listening for stirring – a clear sign of restlessness and movement.

On the Vineyard, Summer 2022

When you live in a house with three stories and you’re on the top floor with your love – reading, on a TV-series-watching- marathon, or listening to music – someone will eventually have to be the one who heads downstairs, first.  A quick trip to the bathroom or to retrieve a sweater on the second floor, means an inevitable detour to the first floor – where the goodies are.

When the kids/grandkids visit, it’s a no brainer.  “Go get me some whatever, whatever from the kitchen.”  They comply.  They are spry.  If they grumble or tease, they still obey.

Between the two of us, it’s a waiting game.  Are you feeling generous and energetic?  If so, you’ll jump to it. Are you on the last leg of your evening before sleep? Then you’ll wait until he makes a move downstairs, and you ask him for a little of this, a smidge of that.

All I want for Valentine’s Day is for you to head downstairs first, Tessil. (And thank you for the many times you do.) Happy Valentine’s Day. Love our domestication.
