I Believe

You made a believer out of me, boy, you made a believer out of me.This refrain from a song has been playing throughout my mind today. Only – let’s substitute the name Obama for the word boy.

You made a believer out of me, Obama, you made a believer out of me.

A believer in change.
A believer that people (a broad variety of people) would work together for good, in this case good meaning supporting your candidacy in a myriad of different ways.

Tonight I do not know what the outcome will be but I have hope that a change, your change, is going to come.

  • As I answer the calls from family and friends who talk about working the polls tomorrow, making calls, ferrying people to polling places, holding watch parties, and saying prayers…

  • As I receive the umpteenth reminder to go vote and to make sure I don’t wear any clothing or button with a political name or message of any kind…

  • As I listen to my mother and step-father packing their bags and folding chairs to be ready for the long lines as they wait to vote in an election that they truly thought they wouldn’t see in their life time…

  • As I heard the buzz about the election on the bus as I came home from a meeting today…

  • As my friend tells me that she got both of her daughters from their colleges to spend the night so they could all vote together…

I am a believer…

Possibility…Probability…I BELIEVE!
