Switcheroo – try something new 5

If you can’t get what you want, could you learn to want something else?

People do this every day. They make a new dream when they realize that an old dream isn’t being realized.

Instead of having one goal that you focus on singularly, could you come up with a list of goals that you pursue in tandem?

Some people make a list of things that want to achieve or do and they pursue them, accomplishing whatever comes first and moving on to the next.

Sometimes it feels like there’s no choice, but there is.  Sometimes everyone else seems to have what you don’t have as you look at the outside of their beings.  If you peered deeper, you might be amazed  or dismayed at who they really are, what they’re currently facing, or what they’ve survived.

Sometimes you only get pieces of your dream and learn to be okay with that.

Sometimes dreaming big is not the answer, dreaming smaller is.  On the other hand, sometimes you haven’t dreamed big enough.  Sometimes your dreams are big but your actions have been too small or safe.

Most dreams don’t have time limits and if you can keep trying they just might come true…

As usual, the words of the poet-lyricists nail in a few words what I’m trying to convey in many.

♫This or that? You can get with this or you can get with that.♫*

♫And if that won’t do, I’ll try something new.♫**

♫You can’t always get what you want, but you can get what you need.♫***

(This was written after reading about the tragedy of yet another mass killing in the United States by the 22 year old in California who planned and carried out a premeditated murder in retribution to those he felt had scorned him. He was angry about being a virgin at age 22.  He wanted love and affection, didn’t get it but he could get automatic weapons, and he murdered.   If I had seen a young, attractive guy like this murdered, Elliot Rodger, driving a BMW, the car of many people’s dreams, I would have thought he had it all or at least a lot of it. I would have marveled that he could own that car at his age.  Shows you, you just don’t know who a person is from looking at their outside.  May his victims RIP, may all of the survivors find a way to heal.)
