Rainy Sundays in the Fall 4

Rainy Sundays in the fall are some of my favorite days of all.
The weekend has wound down but the work day is not yet come.
It is a day of peace and contentment for me.

This particular rainy Sunday comes after the hustle and bustle of Thanksgiving.  The tall one (my son) ate and talked, talked and ate.  He made me laugh as he shared some of the impersonations he does (including Obama) for a radio network out of NYC.  He also shared snippets of routines of his favorite comics from the club at which he works.  Being the intellect he is – he shared ideas from books, articles and news programs he’s feasted upon.  Being the sentimentalist he is – we shared breakfast at our favorite spot, Charlie’s Sandwich Shoppe, and walked through Copley and the Pru, places that we visited frequently during his childhood. Being the sophisticate he is becoming – he talked about a new look he was about to incorporate into his wardrobe (he has a wardrobe -.who once cared naught for appearances at all!).  And he is fit – daily workouts, Aikido, and the walking New Yorkers tend to do have given his an absolutely sleek physique and mus-cles – pronounced with a K ().  He laments love lost yet despite this considerable turmoil in his emotional life, he is resolutely positive and moving forward in his life.

There is nothing I have to do today…except be thankful for:

  • The fellowship of friends and family (through fellowship you realize you are not alone in your joys or your challenges and, for me, this helps).
  • The joys of the webcam that allowed me to see my granddaughter and daughter in real time (and her to see me).
  • The lifting of a depression that was settling over my husband and house because of a negative cloud of financial pressures.
  • The visit from my brother-in-law that helped shift the cloud (thank you brother),
  • The music permeating the house from hubby’s 3rd floor studio as he records the December streams for sun-music.net. (music is the healing force of the universe).
  • The ability to dance, despite the pain that is an almost constant presence now, to some of that good, old rhythm and blues.
  • The plentiful leftovers, enough for another dinner so I don’t have to cook until tomorrow when I will make turkey soup (de-li-cious).
  • The fourth of five loads of laundry completed for the week (the last load of laundry tumbling in the dryer)!

If the sun were shining, I would be tempted to get out and about, but today, I’ve earned my rest.
The rain and cold perfect backdrops to this cozy cocoon in which I nest.
I feel so blessed.
